Crafters; can you recommend a decent fabric glue please?

I'm going to try and restore the fabric advent calendar my mum made me when I was little, after this Christmas.

It's in the shape of a tree, mainly felt. But, over the years, the tree has lost it's pot and most of it's baubles.

Some of the original glue is stuck tight to the fabric backing though so I'm not sure how it'll run through my sewing machine, so thought I'd glue it if I can find a glue that'll last. Then it can become part of my yearly decorations.

Any suggestions?

Well ,I'd like to know as well .

I've used Copydex succesfully but it's white so might not be the best choice .

I picked up some clear fabric glue from Wilko's last week ,so that might work .
