24 hours into puppy motherhood and I'm stressed!

I have an older calm dog who has decided the pup is the BEST toy and is being too rough, absolutely no aggression just over zealous play bouncing.

And this was my first school morning.
Between trying to get pup to pee on the mat. Poop on the mat and no get stood on in the chorus of 'muuuuum have you seen my PE kit??' was quite hectic.

Any tips?

I feel organisation/preperation is the key.

Obviously picture. Also, safe space for the puppy - get a crate and make it the best place in the world, and an escape from the other dog. Feed and toilet them separately. Hate it say it but get up with the puppy before your children are awake and feed / toilet / play. Then give the puppy something exciting to do in its crate and get on with sorting children out. Don't use puppy pads!

It's absolutely freezing though. In the minus'. She's a tiny toy breed. I don't know if she ould be OK outside in the weather. It's so cold

Come over to the doghouse-we’ve got a puppy survival thread going. We’re all going through it, it’s so tough!

Firstly, scrap puppy pads/mats.

Start as you mean to go on. Toilet train outside, take the puppy out every hour and it will toilet train very quickly.

I would crate train to give the puppy somewhere safe from older dog/kids/chaos until it’s a little older.

Good luck!

Yes she has a crate. It's just all seemed to kick off in the same 10 mins.

I think I need a routine where feeding and pooping is away from school time

We're picking up our new pup on Sunday, am wondering what the hell I was thinking so close to Christmas. Well, I know why really, there are not too many about - so we took the opportunity.
But only one DC at home, a sensible 12 year old girl and no other pets, so fingers crossed.

We are crate training too.

they poo when they need to poop. Training them to poop and pee on the mat is a bad idea IMO. They just need to go out regularly.
