Do you still have physical bank cards? And if so what do you do with them?

They live in my phone wallet thingy just in case I go somewhere without contactless.

Rosepetals30 · 01/12/2019 15:06

I carry mine, not all stores have the same contactless limits.

LoonyLunaLoo · 01/12/2019 15:06

Lose it mostly 😂 I still need it for pay at the pump and online purchases sometimes (sometimes the website seems to link to Apple Pay) so I end up putting it down or in my car and losing it.

Reallybadidea · 01/12/2019 15:07

Yes I keep them in my purse for larger payments over the contactless limit

Ah thanks folks.

Apple Pay doesn't have a limit though, does it?

I've had customers use Apple Pay for transactions well above a hundred pounds Confused

Reallybadidea · 01/12/2019 15:41

I think some shops impose a limit though. I've needed to use my physical card a few times with larger amounts.

TheWorldAsh · 01/12/2019 15:43

My card is in my wallet and I get annoyed whenever I have to get it out rather than use my Apple Watch.

Feels like going back to the dark ages. Grin

@adaline I find many are still at £30-£40, ive found Sainsbury’s to be a bit more but not three figures.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/12/2019 17:55

Apple Pay doesn't have a limit. I used mine to buy my Mac and put my house deposit down, just to see if it worked! It did, but only after my banks fraud team had confirmed it with me.

I pay for everything on my watch. My bank cards are usually in my other half's wallet.

Rosepetals30 · 01/12/2019 18:35

Honestly it’s not Apple Pay that has the limit, it’s the vendor/retailer

Aragog · 01/12/2019 18:39

In lots of places Apple Pay is still limited to £20-30 by the individual company. Its a pain, but does mean you still need a card. The supermarkets are often limited - limit os often whatever the contacts limit is.

Some places don't have a limit for Apple Pay - we paid for our bed and mattress, so 4 figures, on ours. It is the company who limits not Apple.

So is a wallet still a potential present for someone that uses Apple pay?

Hmm depends whether they have a phone case that has room for cards. I use my phone a lot (hardly ever have cash) and I've still have use for a small wallet.
