How to get breast fed baby onto a bottle

Hello,

I’m have a 6 week old little one who is exclusively breast fed. We have started introducing a bottle for his 10pm feed which is going ok but he is struggling to settle after and is having to go on me in order to go back to sleep. He’s not interested in a dummy but we persevering to get him used to one.

I have been using tommee tippee closer to nature bottles and wondered if anyone had had the same problem and found a different bottle that solved the problem or can give me any tips of how to get him used to the bottle.

I’m going away for 3 nights in February which I no is far away but I want to start getting his feeds down one at a time between now and then so he’s used to them by then and it’s not too fast a transition for him.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

the bottles you are using are great.

a breastfed baby is generally positioned diagonally on their side and being cuddled tummy to tummy. being held on his back and away from your body for a bottle feed is confusing and unfamiliar. stick the bottle in your armpit to mimick the position for breastfeeding and he will feel more secure about what is going on. you can shift to a more comfortable position once he has got going.
