What would you put in your ideal Christmas buffet?

Got friends coming prior to Christmas, two sets, so doing two Christmas buffet type dinners but I’m feeling a bit uninspired.
I want to have a nice variety of festive food that will look nice laid out on the table for everyone to help themselves to.

What would you put in yours?

Cheese. ALL OF THE CHEESE.

HoldNose · 29/11/2019 11:30

Most people enjoy pigs in blankets.

Titsywoo · 29/11/2019 11:34

Selection of cheeses
Crackers and breads
Whole baked and glazed ham (cold or warm)
Salad
Coleslaw
Few bits of party food from M&S or Waitrose (mini quiches etc)

Oh and pate!

Whatsmyageagain0 · 29/11/2019 11:39

Some cheese with nice accompaniments like posh chutneys and nice crackers etc.

Pigs in blankets

Crusty Baguettes with pate

Cold Meats (slices of ham, beef, turkey)

Salad

Some form of a potato choice

And then some cakes or desert type stuff 😃

Cheese and crusty bread

What time would you like me? Grin

Prunes wrapped in bacon and roasted. Heaven on a cocktail stick!

charm8ed · 29/11/2019 13:24

Warm Camembert with cranberry sauce/dip.
Mulled wine is always good for the festive aroma.

Bellasblankexpression · 29/11/2019 14:00

I’m starving now Grin
Yes yes to all the cheese.
And yes glazed ham is a great shout.
In fact all the suggestions are fantastic. I might need a bigger table.
Maybe I should do a trial run this weekend...

Purely for research purpose.

IHaveBrilloHair · 29/11/2019 14:03

Cheese stuffed jalapenos, halloumi fries, sausage rolls, cheese and pineapple hedgehog, hamaisha pickles.

Bellasblankexpression · 29/11/2019 14:08

Purely. A selfless thing to do really.

Agree with other suggestions, but you're forgetting something.

Chocolate log!

We have Christmas buffets at work for those working for it. Everyone brings something. In the past homemade coleslaw has gone down well, good quality pork pie, posh quiche. Surprisingly things like carrot sticks, cucumber sticks cherry tomatoes always are popular because there's only so much beige buffet food folk can eat before they are craving a bit of freshness with it. A greek style salad with feta in would be nice?

Ken1976 · 29/11/2019 14:16

Maybe some tapas. A friend does this and it always go down well

Bellasblankexpression · 29/11/2019 16:00

Yes, I want to avoid too much beige if I can help it, I’d like quite a colourful spread. Can add grapes etc to the cheeseboard
Tapas is a good shout
