Will my DD lose these curls?

DD has got the strangest hair, the top section is straight and the underneath is curly. Go to hairstyle is half up half down as it shows the curls beneath and pulls all the long straight bits into one place Grin

Do these look like the type of curls that will stay or drop out? Thanks.

My daughter's hair is like that, if she cuts it into a bob it is perfectly straight, if it grows long it curls like your DD's at the ends.

LoseLooseLucy · 28/11/2019 12:47

She's 15, btw Grin

Oh good 😃 I’d love the straight bits to curl as I think that will make her hair more manageable but we’ll see!

My sister had hair like that at 4, then a bob took off all the curls and it has stayed straight since. But will hold a curl if she tongs it, so best of both worlds ☺️

Lindy2 · 28/11/2019 14:56

My 8 year old has hair similar to this. The ends are the curliest. It can curl up more with a bit of layering in the cut and goes most curly when left to dry naturally rather than being blow dried.
Your DD has very pretty hair.

Redrosesandsunsets · 28/11/2019 14:58

Puberty will change it. That’s our experience.

sunshineandshowers21 · 28/11/2019 15:05

my hair was very similar when i was younger, and it just got curlier and curlier as i got older. the longer i grow it, the curlier it is.

OkayOkay1 · 28/11/2019 15:37

Yay!! Seems as though most of you think they will stay... I hope so 😃 she suits her crazy hair 😆

Dd had corkscrew curls until she was about 6yo. They then all dropped out and her hair is straight.

Whattodoabout · 28/11/2019 16:20

My seven year old’s was like this although a lot crazier, it’s never looked particularly tidy Grin. She had it cut shorter last year and it’s been straight ever since although still looks crazy most of the time...

Elphame · 28/11/2019 16:22

Mine looks like that when left to itself. It curls more as it gets longer

Deadringer · 28/11/2019 16:34

They say if it's straight at the root it will end up straight. My dds hair was like that though, and now when she brushes it it's pretty straight, but if she washes it and leaves it it's very curly.

I lost mine.

When I was little my hair was even more curly than your dd. Hair is pretty much straight now I’m an adult and has been since I hit my teens

OkayOkay1 · 28/11/2019 16:39

Oh that’s lovely hair your DD has @Deadringer 😍

Mine was like this, as soon as they were cut off it went straight and it's stayed poker straight ever since. To add insult to injury, it doesn't even like to hold a curl. But I've got used to it and it's not the end of the world! I hope she keeps them, if you both love them.

iswhois · 28/11/2019 17:34

Mine was similar (maybe a bit curlier) sadly all dropped out. Was also a lovely honey blonde colour as a kid which has now morphed into a pallid mousey colour.

iswhois · 28/11/2019 17:35

Oh yes I went though a major frizzy stage from 10-12 as well, was the pits as just started secondary school!

Cineraria · 28/11/2019 17:45

I had hair that grows straight from the crown area and curly from nearer to the hairline. I still do now at 44. It's never changed apart from darkening. I do the half up and half down thing too sometimes after washing it but mostly it's up or blow dried straight.

OkayOkay1 · 28/11/2019 17:46

@Cineraria it’s strange isn’t it. My DD also has a double crown, not sure if that’s related 🤷🏻‍♀️

My hair is still like this, it's very flexible as when it's really long it's almost straight and curler when short. When my hair is almost dry, I sleep with it in a top knot and it curls beautifully without using heated tongs. I use the curly girl method so no silicone products.

DownstairsMixUp · 28/11/2019 20:07

Mine was like this at her age and still is now if it dries naturally. If I blow dry it it will dry straight

PollyShelby · 28/11/2019 20:10

Mine is like @Deadringer DD.

Until I was 7 I had tight ringlets, then it went straight and now it's like that.

NewtonPulsifer · 29/11/2019 00:40

Mine is like this, has been forever. Early 40s Smile
