SEAT Ibiza fuel tank

I've name changed as this is outing (posted on my FB) and i don't want it linked to my normal name:

I have a SEAT Ibiza, brand new last March, takes petrol.
The digital fuel gauge has been funny for a while and sometimes tells me i have 10-20 less fuel then i actually do. No biggie. However, today it's gone from having 180km to 55 in the space of 5 minutes, it's literally just dropped. I've checked and there's no fuel on the floor so it can't be a leak? I can see since i put fuel in over the weekend (it went to 310km) that I've used around 130-140km, so that's showing as correct.
I've tried Mr Google but i can't find anything helpful.
Last year a bloody rat chewed my start stop cable and the car had to go in to be fixed. I know it's a year ago but could this be causing any issues at all?

A pipe could have come loose or the petrol tank could have been damaged. I once had a stone go through my radiator on the motorway and my coolant leaked out.

But as your car is nearly new, it will be still under warranty, so your first port of call should be your nearest Seat dealer so they can take a look.
