Is this the best idea ever or is it totally stupid?

We have a big party with many friends once a year, and it's a struggle for sufficient seats. I was pondering how to deal with seating this year, and had a sudden revelation: INFLATABLE SOFAS.

Tell me the truth. Is it genius or am I bonkers? 'cos right now I'm sitting here going 'Goddammit Contessa, that is INSPIRED'. Am I kidding myself?!

I should note that we have plenty of space to put said inflatables in!

They're already a thing, sorry. Sad

Moonflower12 · 25/11/2019 18:43

If you don't have pets it's genius. Or you could used camping sofas. Like camping chairs but as sofas.

Have a 'bring your own seat' party instead !

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 25/11/2019 18:44

Oh I know they're a thing - my question is, should I get some? Will they be a big money sink or literally Save Christmas?

It does sound a good idea but putting them down again and storing them may be a problem!
Seating visitors at Christmas can be tricky.

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 25/11/2019 18:45

There will be children, babies, cats, drunk people and a partridge in a pear tree. The bigger cats will evacuate at the first sign of visitors, but Small Cat is a concern. She is batshit and has spiky spiky claws.

Have you got space to store them uninflated the rest of the year?

LilouBlue · 25/11/2019 18:46

They tend to be quite low down and not very comfortable, but for a party where it's only temporary sitting, yeah very good idea!

elephantoverthehill · 25/11/2019 18:47

Would they get a bit sweaty?

Spied · 25/11/2019 18:48

Depends on how young and nimble the guests are.

Cuddling57 · 25/11/2019 18:49

I wouldn't be sitting on one! It may be good for a 5 min laugh but can't see they would be good to actually sit in.
Ask other people to bring chairs. Loads of people have fold up garden chairs.

Waitingforadulthood · 25/11/2019 18:49

I'd rather the floor. In fact anyone sprightly enough to sit on inflatable sofas are fine sitting on the carpet for an evening

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 25/11/2019 18:50

Some guests are young and sprightly, others less so. All under 50 though.

Hmm. I've not sat in one myself since I was 19; perhaps they are a bridge too far.

We could store them for the rest of the year, that's not an issue.

Cats love popping them! I speak from experience.

Witchend · 25/11/2019 18:58

I'd rather get some cheap bean bags. Far more comfy.

AppleKatie · 25/11/2019 19:08

Ask people to bring chairs or cushions make the sprightly sit on the floor.

I wouldn’t waste your money the cat will ruin it.

egontoste · 25/11/2019 19:10

It depends on whether some of your guests might turn them into an impromptu bouncy castle...

VincentVanGoughandhisear · 25/11/2019 19:19

Just get everyone to bring a camping chair.
