if you have vinyl laminate how do you mop it?

We use a mop and bucket and it takes ages because it is a large space which takes ages to dry.

There is a shark steam mop on amazon black friday today, but DH reckons it will ruin the laminate - it is quickstep vinyl planks to be specific.

Am I wrong or is he?

If I am wrong, what should I be using?

I don't think steam cleaning is recommended for laminate floors. I bought a Vileda spin mop and it does a good job; it dries very quickly.

Follow with a dry mop?

I also use a spin mop. Dry in no time and fun to do the spinning!

I use a spray mop (from Lakeland - other brands available). It makes short work of my large kitchen floor (Karndean). I don't think a steam mop is recommended because of the heat possibly melting the adhesive. The spray mop doesn't soak the floor and dries quickly.

Taking ages to dry is easily sorted. I “walk”a towel all over my floor when I’ve washed it and bingo, it’s dry!

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 25/11/2019 18:28

Normal mop and bucket and dry with a towel like the pp.

Bluewavescrashing · 25/11/2019 18:29

Use very hot water and it dries within 10 mins.

I use a Vileda spray mop. Warm water and a cleaning solution into the well, quick spray and a wipe over. It's dry very quickly.

I use a steam mop and just don’t have it on max or hover too long in the same spot. I’ve not had any problems and it’s really quick.

hauntedvagina · 25/11/2019 18:51

Seconding the Vileda spin mop. I have 60 square metres of Karndean and it's dry in about 15 minutes after using the spin mop.

DogAndCatPerson · 25/11/2019 18:59

No to steam mop. I have Karndean and was told by the specialist fitters not to use it as it damages the adhesive over time. I use a microfibre pad mop (a vileda one but I’m sure other brands do them) with very hot water and a bit of biological washing powder. I wring the mop out until it’s 85% dry and the floor is dry within 10mins of mopping. No problems.

I've got the mayshine professional flat floor mop recently from Amazon it's working well on my laminate. It comes with microfibre cloths. Method floor cleaner is lovely too.

I use an old tea towel and walk/ shuffle about a bit afterwards to dry.

WineandPretzels · 25/11/2019 19:44

I use a spray mop.
It's so fast and fuss free.

Roselilly36 · 25/11/2019 19:50

I have a shark steam mop, my cleaner thinks it’s brilliant. Not a stealth boast, I have a disability.

Shelley54 · 25/11/2019 19:50

I have a cleaner (the shame!) and she uses the spin mop - it's once a week and with kids and cats it's clean enough. I have also seen the shark today but I can't justify the space it would take up.
