Our son went to a prep school in Sutton. He has had 4 bypasses and with low immune reason we chose private as small classes and they had the equipment if he ever went into cardiac arrest! Bit of background! Cut long story short I kept telling the school our concern for our sons learning they kept saying he was achieving which I could see he wasn’t, he would come home frustrated. Asked them to get him tested to see if he had any learning disabilities they said they couldn’t anyway we got him tested he has dyspraxia. We get the diagnosis but as a parent your lost as the school is still not supporting your child says he is not focusing coming from the SENCO if she understood what dyspraxia is as it is not just co-donation ! Our son was then suffering anxiety told his paediatrician we then told the headmaster who then tells us that our son throat must be dry and needs water! When our son had was suffering from anxiety we kept him off school as he was in a bad way the head told us this was the worse thing a parent could do knowing full well a member of his staff had ripped sheets out of my sons book for not sticking in correctly. Things started to get bad for him that we took him out and put him in a local school which has made a huge difference in a positive way , teachers understand him and SENCO.
At the prep school in Sutton the headmaster just blames the parents and does not see the problem the school has. They false advertise that they can accommodate children with learning disabilities which they clearly cannot as have spoken to other parents who have taken child out. We are so big on mental health in this country but if you can’t get the correct help and support at school for your child they then suffer I have seen this at first hand. I would not recommend this all boys prep independent school in Sutton. I heard the head wants to move onto a secondary school just hoping it is not a school we choose for the future of our son!
