When do your kids start wearing their Christmas jumpers/tops

Holding out till December 1st for the obvious xmas wear, but if it is snowflakes, reindeers, ski type wear for children then asap, they will not fit next year ggrr....

Practicalmagico · 23/11/2019 23:29

1st of December

Tatum1234 · 23/11/2019 23:30

This week, I want them to get the wear out of them.

Thistles24 · 23/11/2019 23:32

It depends what it is! For example, a fair isle can be worn all winter, or if it’s a winter theme they might wear it mid November till February. Santa/Rudolph themed (or very obvious Christmas) will only be worn in December, then packed away for next year.

purpleme12 · 23/11/2019 23:33

Middle of November

IncrediblySadToo · 23/11/2019 23:36

I’ll get them out/buy new ones in Nov which they’ll wear if we go to a Christmas event (like markets or whatever, even just ice skating 🤣)

Bigger ones choose when to wear them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Smalls get put in them most days - lots of hand me downs as well as gifts 🎅🏼🎄🎁

I have to find them, wash them & put them away in jan though or they’d keep wearing them!

Thanks all

Whenever they want.

Ours stay in the wardrobe and the kids choose their forges so it's up to them really. DD had a snow scene penguin jumper on a few days before Halloween. I wouldn't wear one ever out with December personally!

When do you start watching Christmas films ?

OP posts:
BlackSwanGreen · 24/11/2019 07:45

It's up to them. So DD's has already had an outing, whereas I wouldn't bother buying one for DS1 as he never wears it but unfortunately their school has a Christmas jumper day.

AaandBreathe · 24/11/2019 07:54

I try to get "seasonal" ones rather than "Christmas" ones. DD's has snowflakes and snowmen and she wears it once it gets cold (mid-November) until around Easter. DS's is his favourite jumper so he wears it all year round.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 24/11/2019 08:06

Thankyou, has everyone started Christmas films ?

One of mine dug out a Christmas jumper this weekend, but usually is sometime in Dec. I have to say I prefer a fair isle for extended use really.

We have late November and mid December birthdays in the family though so won't allow Christmas to intrude too early!

Decs go up mid December too.

DinosApple · 24/11/2019 08:34

Films start when school breaks up! (Mean Mum Grin)

ThursdayLastWeek · 24/11/2019 08:35

Nothing xmassy before December first.

Although I’m breaking my own rule by going to see that new Xmas film on Monday, only date both my friend and I could manage Grin

LeonoraFlorence · 24/11/2019 08:38

Honestly I’m starting them wearing them this week, they so much we’ll never get use out of them! Tree is going up today (DDs wanted it up last weekend!).

Abibranning · 24/11/2019 08:39

DS wore his to school on children in need day, as it had yellow on it.

misskatamari · 24/11/2019 08:40

Mine wear them throughout the year, along with their Halloween tops :) they stay in their drawers and they wear them when they fancy

purpleme12 · 24/11/2019 08:47

Christmas films I'm more lax about. There's a pile of Christmas films which is just there all year round so she could get them if she wants. She doesn't tend though. She watched Arthur Christmas a few weeks ago

MrsPear · 24/11/2019 08:49

I have a great picture of ds1 taken in May wearing his Christmas hat wearing penguin jumper and shorts off to the seaside 😂

In all seriousness my boys wear from the the first - I only ever buy one new a year as ds2 gets ds1’s.

CakeNinja · 24/11/2019 08:50

None of us have any!
Ds has Christmas jumper day at school, I tend to buy him a new one every year and he grows out of it by the following year so it’s passed on to my nephew Grin
How much Christmas clothing are people buying?!
Seems ridiculous to me but then I tend to buy staples for all of us and then things to smarten up our wardrobes - this never includes what I would consider novelty clothing!

Cornish2 · 24/11/2019 09:30

Mine have watched a few Christmas films, largely as they were both poorly and had a few film days and oldest dd has worn a Minnie Mouse jumper which is Christmas themed but easier to let her wear it than a tantrum at 7am before nursery.

LustigLustig · 24/11/2019 09:45

I get the winter clothes out of storage once the weather turns cold- about 3 weeks ago.

DC2 has already worn a Christmas jumper several times after school at home, DC has worn one once.

I don't set rules about it, apart from must be weather appropriate.
