6th sense/ Gut Instinct on social situations

So...after discussing something odd that happened with a colleague this afternoon, when I head home I walk down stairs into the hallway where she's eagerly catching up on gossip/ something with our manager, both look up to me where I'm walking downstairs, pretty sure I see her mumble something and they automatically change subject and manager walks off back upstairs wishing us good evening all bright and sprightly like...they were discussing me weren't they? I'm pretty sure they were, the odd thing that happened may detrimentally affect me work wise (it's nothing that manager needed to know at this moment in time)...I'm starting to think that the department I once thought for got on actually doesn't and I don't fit in, not liked, not wanted...its kind of like they were discussing the incident and seemed to be gleefully happy about it?...it's not just this incidence that's led to me thinking this...you develop a 6th sense or gut instinct don't you when you are the of one out?

Or they were chatting about something completely different and didn't want you to overhear.

Yeah there is that but they were around other colleagues, just milling at the end of the day type scenario.... I know it's 50:50 what they were talking about but do you think if due to lots of small things adding up you just eventually know it must be derogatory and about you?

Or they were discussing something they didn't want anyone to overhear.

Yesterday my colleague gave me some (good) medical information about someone we both know who'd asked her to tell me, but no one else.
She chose a time when there was no one else in the room, and we broke off as soon as anyone else came in.
