Naproxen. Any Pharmacists About Who Can Advise?

I have just been prescribed Naproxen for sciatic pain and collected the prescription but the leaflet says I must not take it with Ibuprofen which is what I was taking for the pain until I saw my GP earlier. What I cannot find info on anywhere is how long I need to wait before the last dose of Ibuprofen before I can start taking the Naproxen.

The pharmacy where I collected the prescription are not answering their phone and I called my GP surgery who have said that someone will call me back but probably not until tomorrow. I am in a lot of pain and really do not want to drag back out to the pharmacy now I am warm and vaguely comfortable so can anyone advise? Thank you.

Call a different pharmacy, they won’t mind.

Treat them as the same drug in this instance . Ibuprofen is 400mg three times a day. The usual, (can differ though) of naproxen is 250mg three times a day. If that's the dose you're on, consider waiting 8 hours from your previous ibuprofen to start the naproxen.

6 hours after the last dose of Ibuprofen. It’s part of the NSAID family. Make sure you don’t take it without eating first, it’s pretty caustic on the stomach lining.

Ibuprofen & Naproxen are both part of the Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) family. To be very safe, wait 8hrs after the last dose of ibuprofen but unless you have kidney disease (or risk factors such as diabetes or uncontrolled high blood pressure) or previous tummy bleeds taking a one off dose closer together should not cause you problems.
Do always eat before taking the naproxen

Thank you. I don't have any of the risk factors mentioned and I have also been prescribed Lansoprazole to protect my stomach. I would be due my next Ibuprofen dose at 5pm this evening so I'll take a couple of paracetamol instead and wait it out until later in the evening to take the Naproxen.
