How much did you spend on a “significant” birthday celebration

Got DH’s birthday coming up. Maybe 40 guests. Got a band, food and a couple of drinks in for guests. Racking up cost wise. Not helped thatits a busy time of year.
Just interested what others end up spending.

Are you asking for the costs of hosting a celebration?
I think we spent about 4k on my 30th, venue hire, dinner for 50 and drinks. The band was our neighbours who were very generous and played for free - we did feed them and buy them a bottle of scotch to say thank you!

£2k here for our 40th.
