My dog doesn’t get on with other dogs after being attacked. She gets nervous if dogs come up to her and is sometimes reactive.
There is one dog she’s completely in love with. As soon as she spots him she’s on her tummy army crawling over to him with a look of love on her face and a desire to be liked by him. She sniffs his face without the reaction she’d give to other dogs, she rolls over her back and just lies there in front of him. Any other dog she’s up on her feet, ready to react if they were going to attack her.
How do I get her to be the same with other dogs as she is with this one? He’s 13 so maybe because he’s older and calmer? I praise her when she’s been good with him thinking it’ll give her positive reinforcement to be more confident with other dogs but no, it’s only Barney she loves.
