Mum found me on pinterest and her surprise party is now no longer a surprise

Was planning a surprise party for my mum who's turning 60, and have of course, turned to pinterest because I'm hopeless at themes and colour coordination.

The surprise is now ruined though, because apparently, if you've signed up with your email address, even if you've changed your username to something completely unrelated, typing pinterest.com/^youremailusername^ will cause the site to redirect anyone to your current pinterest page!

Am I the only one unaware of this function?

Secret boards are your friend. Nobody can see your secret boards. There's a little "switch" like button to turn them private.

Sorry that the horse has already booked though! Can you change all the plans and start a secret board and still surprise her in some way? Use the public one as a decoy ;)

I only found out about secret boards 5 minutes ago! Thought I was anonymous as the page didn't contain my name, face, and the username was something completely random. Had no idea that they had this function that links the automatically created username (which is based on your email address) and the one you've changed it to!

Well on the bright side at least she thinks the theme matches her wardrobe.

That doesn't work for me... is your account really new? Mine is pretty old but searching my email (which is no longer my username) delivers a "no user found" page.

I created it about 2 months ago? Tried changing it again and all my previous usernames redirected to the new page. Must be a new feature then!

Or be frantically making alternative plans to be somewhere else that day as not everyone would love a surprise party and could find it a hellish experience!

I'm sure op knows her mum well enough though to be sure it's the right thing to do.

My mum loves surprises and is the kind of person who is friendly with probably 90% of people in the neighbourhood so no worries there thank goodness!
