Should I eat even though I don't fancy anything

So I've had some sort of stomach bug. It started on Saturday afternoon, just constantly being sick and feeling nauseated. Yesterday was the same. Today I've had brief bouts of nausea, but no actual sickness. I am sipping lucozade as well as water since this afternoon.

But I keep feeling shaky, I'm absolutely freezing, and my stomach is rumbling like it does when I'm hungry. DP thinks I need to eat something plain, and it'll help me feel better. But I don't think I can face eating. I'm not sure if I'm just trying to avoid being sick again, or if my body's telling me not to eat.

Tried looking online and all advice is to eat small amounts of what you'd normally have, when you feel like it. So doesn't really clarify it for me.

I’d try to eat something, you might be feeling a bit shakey if you’ve not eaten and have a slightly low blood glucose. I sometimes feel like this and then eat and feel better! My go to is toast with jam for the sugar hit

Plain toast or crackers to start with and see how you feel with some carbs on board.

Something plain eg toast like the pps said or some boring biscuits or a banana? Sounds like you're running on empty if you're freezing.

Dry toast with mashed banana?

BlueCornsihPixie · 18/11/2019 18:18

I always have pitta bread in this situation, plain and easy but not as dry and hard to swallow as toast. Or a banana

I would try something, just a couple of small bites. But if you really don't feel like it don't force it, sipping Lucozade will keep your blood sugars up

Thank you for all of the suggestions. Don't think I can manage toast or bananas, the thought of them are definitely making me nauseous.

@BlueCornshiPixie pitta bread actually sounds appealing, plus something I actually have in lol. And yeah that's what I was hoping with the lucozade. Just wondered if it was enough cos I'm just so cold. even though I've got my dressing gown on, a blanket over me, and the dog sat on my feet

@imfreeezing biscuits didn't even cross my mind as I never buy them. But my grandma always gave me arrowroot biscuits when I was sick as a kid. Might send DP shop if I can manage the pitta

You're all angels 😘
