Walking boots - recommendations?

Very boring thread, I know.

I want some comfy waterproof walking boots but I don't want to spend lots of ££ (probably up to £100) at this stage.

Does anyone have boots that they love?

It does depend on your feet but I've got Decathlon boots which have been just as good and cheaper than my previous big-name (tho can't remember what!) ones.

I have Merrill and I’m on my second pair because they fit the shape of my foot.

OP if you post details of your foot shape/what fit you need people may recommend brands

I have average to narrow feet and very narrow ankle, Karrimor Berghaus and Meindl don’t suit me. Salomon, Merrill and north face sometimes do

Different makes are different shapes: narrower or wider at ankle at toe, some brands have a different profile to the sole (I never could wear Karrimor or Brasher as the sole stuck up in the wrong place for me)

Try some on. Wear your walking socks. Lace them up properly and spend time on the slope that a good ship will have so that you can test them downhill.

This is what makes all the difference between blisters or not on a fell walk.

Salomon suit me, Scarpa are too narrow.

I have had a pair of the Brasher Hillwalker boots. They were comfortable but the soles didn't last very long at all. I wouldn't recommend them.

I have a £80 pair of Solomon's , I've had them for years and they are so comfy and still going strong. It's definitely a brand I would buy again

Grisport Timber. They're waterproof, comfortable and fit without needing to break in.

I'm on my 6th pair. Haven't worn anything else for 20 years and will definitely buy more when this pair wear out.

As others have said, it really depends on the shape of your feet as to what will be comfortable.

I've been wearing Keen footwear for years, I particularly love their sandals but also have the old version of their Hoodoo boots (furry lined, I wear them when it's really cold). All really comfy and they wear really well.

I usually buy from Webtogs, but I've also bought direct from Keen a bigger selection.
