I don't eat much bread or carbs in general. Does anyone have any ideas please?

What do you put in your soup?

Add a handful of red lentils, rice or dried peas etc when you make it. Keep the soup chunky rather than blend it.

I like to dip salt and vinegar crisps into broth.

Sprinkle some grated cheese on top.

Oatcakes.

I used to live with a girl who always had a baked potato sat right in the middle of her bowl of soup, it worked for her Confused

Or, if you're in Ireland and it's a big bowl of vegetable broth, you plonk a potato in the middle. My elderly relatives love a potato with their soup. Smile

Witchofzog · 18/11/2019 15:50

It is a lentil n veg soup so I am hoping it will be quite filling anyway. But I am a greedy pig at the same time. Am loving the crisp n cheese idea together 😋

Dumplings.
Even in creamy soup 😍

Witchofzog · 18/11/2019 15:53

Ooh and the potato idea. I have just remembered I used to do this when I was 18 and skint. Dinner would be a baked spud with tinned soup over the top. How did I forget this?

I know you don't eat a lot of bread or carbs, but a toasted pitta bread or sweet chilli wrap, sliced into strips and dipped in soup, is delicious.

Witchofzog · 18/11/2019 15:53

Dumplings 😋😋 I love mumsnet!

I put noodles in my soup if I'm extra hungry.

Livedandlearned · 18/11/2019 15:59

I love crisps in soup. I'm so hungry right now even though I've not long eaten. This cold weather makes me eat eat eat

SamBeckett · 18/11/2019 16:00

I have been beaten to it, I was going to say dumplings. And cheese toastie go particularly well with tomato soup.

A handful of sweet corn goes well in most soups too.

wildhairdontcare · 18/11/2019 16:01

I love homemade lentil and carrot soup with a handful of crumbly ham dolloped in!

ChachyFace · 18/11/2019 16:01

I put half a tin of chickpeas or butter beans in mine

havingtochangeusernameagain · 18/11/2019 16:02

I often make sweet potato soup and stick a small tin of red kidney beans in it.

paap1975 · 18/11/2019 16:03

Protein is filling, so pulses

TwentyOneSloths · 18/11/2019 16:05

I put some slices of Brie in mine! Goes all melty and delicious.

feemcgee · 18/11/2019 16:06

I had leftover roast chicken shredded in my soup for lunch, it was really filling and tasty.

Mylittlerainbow · 18/11/2019 16:07

Riveta with cream cheese on top dunked in soup is nice

MarianaMoatedGrange · 18/11/2019 16:15

Loving the potato and shredded chicken or ham ideas! sound really filling and tasty.

Witchofzog · 18/11/2019 20:41

So disaster. No spuds. But I had it with grated cheese n ready salted crinkle cut crisps and it was bloody lovely Smile

If you will have dumplings you may as well have a roll instead!

Eat more lean protein (ham, chicken) as it makes you feel full longer and no carbs.

Make your own chunky veg soup, enough for a few days, add cooked chicken a few minutes before serving so thoroughly reheated.
