I know this is still over a month away but...

....now that Stephen Cleobury has been succeeded by Daniel Hyde, is there any likelihood of the service changing significantly ? It always begins with the processional Once In Royal David's City and finishes with Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. I appreciate there are minor variations from year to year and there is usually a new, specially commissioned carol each year. But it just would not be the same without the traditional beginning and ending.

I hope not!! I love it how it is

Middle England would die in a panic if anything changed in Carols From Kings. It’s unlikely to feature interpretive dance or rap carols anytime soon.

I don't suppose Mr Hyde would last too long in the job if he dared to screw around with his department's biggest gig of the year.

It had better not change, as @Gallivespian says, would be the death of Middle England. It's been my Christmas Eve treat for more years than I care to count.

Stephen Cleobury has sadly died today. I now wonder if he had been in poor health for a while, hence his retirementSad ?

Apparently he had, WildRosie

Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is the start of Christmas for me.
First bottle popped, first glass poured, and let Christmas Joy commenceGrin

The Christmas Eve broadcast on Radio 4 is about the only involvement with Christmas I have now. My choice; the rest of it lost its appeal years ago.
