Top cash back - withdrawing money?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2019 20:26

Has anyone successfully withdrawn funds from topcashback?

I bought 2 advent calendars on there, on advice from Martin Lewis no less, and yes, Thornton's have refunded my £16 which is sat in my TopCB account. But can I get it out?? No! Am I going doolally?? I can see it's there, but I cannot seem to withdraw it.

There's no customer service number, the help guide leads me round in circles. They don't want me to withdraw this money, do they? It screams 'scam' but it's a fairly reputable site, and recommended by Martin Lewis for this promo so I assumed it to be safe.

Anyone successfully negotiated this and could shed light on what I'm doing wrong ?

I use TCB a lot. Go to my account > payout then scroll to the bottom and choose PayPal/bacs (or you can choose one of their offers Argos etc..)

AlletrixLeStrange · 16/11/2019 20:30

Also, sometimes it'll be confirmed but not payable yet, it can take up to 6 months or so to become payable so you won't be able to withdraw it

StrictlyNameChangin · 16/11/2019 20:31

I have used it no problems. iIs it withdrawable yet - sometimes it takes months from a cashback site.

ColdRainAgain · 16/11/2019 20:34

How long ago? It takes AGES to be able to access the funds. Basically, the amount needs to be in green to allow you to access it. And it takes weeks (months).
I dont get the best out of it, but convert it to tesco vouchers, then spend in store. Some of it I had to put into my bank account - condition of the £95 from BT. If you want to send it to your bank account, note it takes a few days for them to approve your account before you can transfer out.

I’m having trouble with it. I’ve updated my bacs info twice and they keep saying they couldn’t process my cash back because of incorrect bacs info. Arrggghhh. I’m trying now for the 3rd time. And there’s no customer services so I’m not sure how I’ll resolve it. I was also thinking it’s a big scammy op.

ColdRainAgain · 16/11/2019 20:42

Well, if its scammy, it's a great scam. I moved back to the UK in the summer, so have been doing quite bit of shopping (phones, furniture, new insurance policies). I've had £250 from them.
It just takes time, and doesn't always track through properly. I treat it as bonus cash on something I'd buy anyway, not a reason to buy something, iyswim?

Wavingwhiledrowning · 16/11/2019 20:44

If you can't withdraw funds it must be because they're either not actually available for payment yet, or your details are wrong. We've been doing TCB for absolutely years, and we've literally had thousands back from them without a problem. Even when a transaction hasn't gone through properly and we've chased it up, we've always got the money in the end. We keep saying it feels too good to be true!

nikkylou · 16/11/2019 20:45

Just to clarify, you have ordered thorntons calendars, and earned cashback? Rather than bought them and been refunded.

Its impossible highly unlikely that cashback will be ready to withdraw as soon as you bought it. Normally you need to wait a good couple of weeks for it to confirm and be payable.

Plus if you have just changed your bank details you can't get a payout through them for 48? Hours.

But it's certainly legit, I've recently withdrawn the 85 i earned from a plusnet deal. And I still have 45 to withdraw later as I save it up, intending to get a voucher rather than cash, to get more.

Redcrayons · 16/11/2019 20:46

Usually no problems at all but I’m currently stuck in Customer service hell trying to get the full cash back for something I bought in summer.

OP - most of the retailers don’t approve the cash back for weeks if not months.

BabyGsMummynow · 16/11/2019 20:50

It’s not a scam, I’ve used it for years. It takes a while to come through so although you have got it in your account you have to wait until it’s checked and payable. As pp says then you go to your account and withdraw it. Smile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2019 20:50

It's showing in green and as 'payable'

I did amend my details for BACS and it said I couldn't withdraw for 72 hours, but now that's passed and it doesn't say that any more, but still won't allow me to.

I wonder if it's because my profile is only 40% complete, but it won't update my profile and every time I use it I enter the same details and it remains at 40%.

It's not a scam, I don't think, but it's certainly not a user friendly site- no customer service number, lots of the links take you back in circles, and there's no big green WITHDRAW FUNDS link to make it easy.

I've registered my help request and they will contact me within 48 hours!

I could try to trade for Tesco vouchers I guess, but I could really do with the cash. It's not 'earned' cashback, it was a special promo to get two free advent calendars.

The other thing is I keep forgetting to go through TCB website. I made an order the other day that would have earned me £10. This thread has reminded me to make sure I go through the website.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2019 20:53

I should add, the purchase was about 3 weeks ago, I've tracked it through the site as the money has filtered through and gone through all the stages. I haven't just bought them. The money had been showing as payable for over a week and I have tried maybe 20 times, following the help section guidance, to withdraw it.

There is no clear icon to 'withdraw funds'- could anyone please screen shot their screen so I can see if mine's the same?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2019 20:54

And this is the desktop site not the app

ColdRainAgain · 16/11/2019 21:07

Ok. Go to account, then payout. You should get something similar to the photo. This in on my tablet, but through a browser. Click on the highlighted baccs but, and it should step through for you.
I agree it's not intuitive, but for free stuff, in prepared to jess about a little bit - not as much as you seem to be needing to tho.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2019 21:18

Thanks @ColdRainAgain , when I click payout it asks me to enter my new username and select a security question and answer; when I do that, the page hangs for ages, it won't upload the info.

That's obviously the problem then, wonder if there's a glitch on the site?

OP posts:
StrictlyNameChangin · 16/11/2019 21:26

That does sound glitchy. Clear your cookies and try again?

ColdRainAgain · 16/11/2019 21:28

Have you got a security code set up? Mine auto logs in, but it asked for my security word (oldest child middle name, primary school sort of question), then goes to the next screen. Do you have this set up?

Alternatively, clear todays/this weeks cookies, and try one final time?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2019 21:41

When I click payout, I get this screen (in both app and laptop) and it won't accept/update my details and move to the next screen.

I'll try the cookies but because it's on both app and desktop I guess it must be an issue with the site. I'll have to wait until they return my query as there's no customer service number.

Sorry: I get this
