What to do re Sainsbury's home delivery?

A friend is working away and is due home late tomorrow night. She had asked that if she did an online food shop and had it delivered to mine early tomorrow morning could I then take it round to hers so she had a full shop waiting for her. No problem for me.
However her company have asked her to stay on a week so there is no need for the delivery and it's too late to cancel now. Would it be possible for me to refuse the delivery and have her refunded or even at least refuse anything fresh?

She could call and cancel it herself as soon as the lines open in the morning. It shouldnt be a problem

Think you’ve missed the deadline - it’s 11pm anytime before that and you could have cancelled the order. Don’t think you can refuse the delivery once it turns up - the fresh items will get binned as they aren’t allowed to return them to the shop!

Ime you can refuse at the door for a Tesco delivery with no penalty or just not be in. You could just ring customer services and cancel, surely? Your money will take a few days to get back into your account.

I once ordered a full shop, to be delivered to holiday rental, a full week before we were due. Blush

I got a call from the driver looking for the place and freaked. I explained, he laughed it off and said don't worry, it happens all the time.

This won't help, but I laughed.

@theemmadilemma brilliant! that's what I do but with wine. My theory being you can never have too much wine...

Grandadwasthatyou · 15/11/2019 23:45

Unfortunately she can't ring and cancel in the morning as she is on the other side of the world in a completely different time zone! And obviously I can't ring because it's not my account.

Fuck it then hope she's ordered some nice bits and enjoy 🥂🍰🍫

IloveJudgeJudy · 16/11/2019 08:32

As I said above, just refuse at the door.

AlwaysCheddar · 16/11/2019 08:53

Check the t&c - she may not get her money back if the order is refused.

habipprtyh · 16/11/2019 09:07

Calling them rather than refusing at the door would make more sense. Of course you can call them. Just give her details. They won't know the difference. What a waste of time and money and food rather than lifting the phone.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/11/2019 09:15

Ahh, just take the delivery , store anything you can and either eat or freeze the rest .

You can re-imburse her (or take it as your payment for the favour Grin )
