What to get my best friends almost one year old?

My best friends DD will be almost 11 months at Christmas. I’ve not got DC so I have no idea what makes a good present for an 11 month old.

I’d like something nice, not some rubbish toy that will only get played with a couple of times.

Please could I ask what lovely gifts you’ve all received for your one year Olds?

Thanks Smile

How about a nice set of pyjamas? I just bought my 1 year old a fleece set now the weather has turned cold. Or some board books? My toddler rips up the paper usually but absolutely loves his board books with nice textures and flaps in. Even if your friend's DD isn't interested right now it probably won't be long and books are always a lovely gift. My sister bought DS a stack of board books about a year ago and he reads them daily now!

If you change your mind and go down the toy route, perhaps get a nice wooden toy. They make a great present. Look for age 1 (or even 18 months) on the boxes as a rough guide and even if she doesn't play with them much now she might do a few months down the line. I love having toys ready to pull out as soon as DS seems ready for them and I'm always grateful when people think ahead.

My 11th month old loves his truck that makes noises , xylophone, count with puppy book and skittles set that he has at his nans ... as a mum nice pjs are also good purchase ... love bathing him and putting him in fresh pjs every night ( partly because he somehow gets them dirty first thing every morning 😂

Mine both goth starter set of duplo and a starter train ate a bit older than that. And three years later they are the most played with toys. They can always be added to as they get older.

Books or bath toys
Or voucher for petting zoo or similar in your local area

A long time since mine was eleven months but I have bought dinosaur patterned pyjamas which come in all colours and designs, suitable for all sexes.

Someone above suggested board books and they are a very good idea. Bless.

At that age it’s all about stimulating senses. The best present I got my 1 year old was a cardboard box with a light up balloon (from Poundland) inside. She was amazed and her little face loved it. Make the box easy to open so she can get inside herself, slightly open so she can see the light and turn the lights out /close curtains before giving it to her. I know that doesn’t fit the ‘nice’ present mould but you could put something to unwrap inside as well as the balloon if you like.

Just to add duplo is brilliant as a toy

Stacking cups were loved at that age (and for years afterwards).

Duplo
The playmobil advent set (the baby version NOT the older kids version!!)

The nicest thing DS got was a beautiful bauble photo frame with a picture of him in and ‘DS First Christmas 25.12.20XX’ engraved on it.

Not a toy and he didn’t technically get any joy from it but years on it’s become a real family treasure.
