Things your parents/grandparents did that you wouldn’t dream of doing now

Something on FB reminded me of this aspect of my childhood. I have a huge family on both sides. Oodles of aunties and uncles and cousins. And I was very lucky that growing up we were pretty close with most of them so my parents were never short of babysitters and they did their fair share of babysitting too. Regularly there were upwards of 10+ children staying in our house including babies. (I only have one sibling so normally a quiet house) And the same when I stayed with aunts/uncles. For us children it was amazing! But it’s dawned on me now as a parent it must have been hellish for my parents! Grin I have two children and they have a few cousins on their fathers side that they don’t see very often at all. They visited once for an hour and my youngest son was so relieved when they left as they were so loud and wrecked wherever they went! We never have anyone to stay. They have friends over after school and they’ve had the odd sleepover but the carrying on almost tips me over the edge so I’m happy never to repeat it Grin how on earth did my parents and aunts/uncles/granny cope with all those children in their homes sometimes for both weekend nights! Did they have constant screaming banshee moments that I’ve just erased from my memory? I genuinely couldn’t cope with all that chaos. And how the hell did they feed us all? Confused
