Basics: I haven’t been in the role very long, but have been here longer than my manager. When I was appointed, I was basically given free reign and was allowed to do things as I wished, made my own timelines and deadlines. It was brilliant. Everyone was happy and no one questioned which work I was doing, as long as I was meeting deadlines.
New manager is a control freak. Really not like anyone in our office. She’s micro managing which work she wants me to do each day which is really bringing down my motivation.
How ever, the worse thing: she’s using my ideas and palming them off as her own. Im a really enthusiastic person and when she came i stupidly gave her all my ideas and she implemented them all but she’s taking the limelight. Now we had a meeting with a client and she pitched another idea which was actually mine. If I make a suggestion, she disagrees with me, but then suddenly she’s using it.
I know I need to keep my mouth shut, but how do I implement my own ideas without her shutting me down and then using them herself? Do I go over her head? Do I not share and let it go to shit?
I’ve got to the stage where I hate my job now.
