What do they do? Do I need I one? Will it add to my life in any way?

You should be able to set that up in routines thetruth go into routines, click add, then choose when this happens-alarms, then weather, then choose skills and find the talk sport app.

Had mine two years. Wouldn't be without it. Best thing is waking up in the middle of the night and asking it the time. It means I don't have to wake up, put my glasses on and look at the clock.

Thank you @Aposterhasnoname !

We’ve just got one and a couple of smart plugs, the kids love saying Alexa Christmas on and the tree lights go on.
My ds told Alexa to fart and enjoyed the different farting noises.

Think of it as a different way to access the internet. You can ask it questions, get it to tell you jokes, play music.

If you buy accessories it can do more, so I have a couple of light bulbs and a couple of plugs so I can say, "alexa lights on" or lights off, or lights 20% or lights green / blue / orange.

Also useful for timers for food, "Alexa timer for 20 mins" and in 20 mins you hear an alarm, but you can also ask how many mins left.

You can ask what is on TV, the weather, for a recipe...

How do you connect Alexa to Sainsbury’s shopping list? Would be great to do it automatically!

Aposterhasnoname · 29/11/2019 07:57

@Dino44

Not used it myself but this skill looks like what you need.

Can you put restrictions on it so it only responds to one person? My ds keeps causing arguments by changing the music all the time. I've told her countless times she is not to use it but so far she's just completely ignored me. She's already grounded with no tablet so running out of consequences for her!

Fairly sure you can’t do that. The only thing I can think of is to change the wake word and not tell her. You can use echo or computer. It’ll be difficult to make sure she never hears you say it though.

We ask ours trivia, if I need to know what 800 divided by 7.5 is etc, the mean of a word.
Great for playing music. Ours plays amazon music. When we had a Spotify subscription it played that.
