Yep, a blatant look at me post, but today I finished a quilt that has been sitting half done in a cupboard for nearly a year.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out, faults and all.

That's brilliant! I love the pattern. You've inspired me to dig out my half-finished quilt!

Well done 🙌🏻

Weirdly, doing the quilt top (the patterned bit) doesn’t take me long, but actually quilting then binding it seemed to take months. Not in man hours, but in procrastination terms.

I did the binding (that’s the outside edging that finishes it all) on this one today too.

I love the wavy line quilting - do you do it freehand or do you draw the pattern first? I'm fairly new to quilting and I tend to stick to straight lines.
This is my first big quilt that I finished a couple of weeks ago.

That’s lovely.

I do my free motion quilting freehand. That’s the part I love most.

I'm not crafty at all but love looking at others' work. It's gorgeous, OP. I love those kind of colours. Well done.

NannyR · 09/11/2019 22:46

I will have to have a play about with doing some free hand quilting on a smaller project, I love how it looks!

Headstand · 09/11/2019 22:48

I have a quilt that has been in a project bag of shame for a year. Thank you for the inspiring to dig it out tomorrow!

percheron67 · 09/11/2019 22:49

Well done! Lovely colours. I was given lots of Laura Ashley cottons today and I know that when my daughter sees them she will want a quilt made. I have to handstitch as I don't ha e a machine.

RaininSummer · 09/11/2019 22:54

Lovely quilts. I find that I enjoy the piecing but hate making the quilt sandwich and binding. This is why I have three unfinished quilt tops.

Croquembou · 09/11/2019 22:56

That's really beautiful OP.

elizalovelace · 10/11/2019 01:39

Beautiful quilts! Well done!

Rustyigloo · 10/11/2019 08:22

Theyre amazing. I love the autumnal colour scheme.

OtraCosaMariposa · 10/11/2019 08:24

Fabulous! I run a patchwork club at school teaching them the basics of English Paper Piecing to inspire the next generation of quilters.

YouJustDoYou · 10/11/2019 08:26

Oh that's beautiful! I wish I could do that. Mine all end up looking like crap.

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 10/11/2019 08:41

I really like the half square triangle effect.

So versatile, and a lot easier than you might thibk.
