Taking a further year off uni - does anyone know what happens ?

I’m a student on suspension due to having had a nervous breakdown type episode about a year ago . I passed semester one, then in January this year got advised to take some time out lest I got kicked out for failing semester 2 (as I didn’t attend any classes) .

I’ve been offered to take a further year out as I’m still not great, better but not brilliant at all . I’m also having physical health difficulties so in and out of hospital a few times . GP has said this can be treated at uni too but may involve further days off in the future . Probably looking at having an op this time next year or so .

I’m currently getting my student loan for this year without an issue, but I think if I take another year out , I’m going to stop getting payments in January . So would have to get a job .

I’m staying at my mums just now too and as she’s too disabled to work, she’s in council property and receiving benefits . Am I right in thinking if mums becomes my permanent address I’m going to have to pay the rent for her house (ie she would lose her housing benefit) ?

I’m a bit clueless . GP has said she will reassess my ability to return to study in 4 weeks and if she still isn’t happy then she won’t be able to support me going back . I think a further year out is the best option right now, but I don’t know how to do it or if I’m going to make life incredibly difficult for myself !
