Recommendations for nice winter coat for a little girl please

Sorry if this is the wrong board.

Can anyone recommend a nice, waterproof coat in age 4-5? She’s got a fairly thin jacket that I got for Autumn, and a wool coat (or a cheap high street version anyway!) for best, but now it’s getting colder I want a thick parka type coat for her. She’s only 2 but fairly tall and I always like coats a bit big to fit jumpers etc underneath.

I am quite fussy. While she’s little I want her to have a coat that only a little child could have! So something with cute pictures on rather than the plain navy with fur hood types that I keep seeing and think they’re no different to what an adult could wear. Can anyone recommend anything please? Thanks

What's your budget?

Kitsandkids · 07/11/2019 20:57

It would depend on how much I loved it I suppose but i don’t think I’d want to spend more than about £50. I think the other 2 coats she has were about £20 each. I don’t generally splurge on clothes. Most of her things are Primark and Sainsbury’s. But I do want her to have a really decent winter coat. We’re in northern England and winters do get really cold here.

I do like the cream Next one! The yellow M&S one looks lovely too though I’m not sure it looks warm enough?

My DD has the yellow one from M&S. we use it as a raincoat but it also comes with a padded pink coat inside it so it could be made warm but may be a big of a gaff wearing two coats.
We just use the yellow outer coat as a rain coat and do not use the inner jacket

Mountain Warehouse do really nice waterproof coats and they usually have sales on so you could get two for your budget.

Not this one but my daughter had a frugi winter coat. It was great, washed really well. It'll be going into her sister next year.

Have a look at muddy puddles.
Their coats are properly waterproof, my kids have been still dry after a walk in the rain when dp and I were soaked in our big brand coats.
They have nice designs and usually a sale of some sort

My daughter has this

It's thick, waterproof and windproof and she gets so many compliments on it.

Cauliflowerhead · 07/11/2019 21:39

Dd2 has a 3 in one from mountain ware house. It’s comes with a zip in fleece inside. It’s a bloody good coat. God I’m getting old.

I bought one in Lidl this morning. It's windproof & waterproof. Has reflective bits and elasticated sleeve cuffs.
€14.99, so about £12.00
