Games for adults to play on NYE

SconNotScone · 05/11/2019 17:44

We have friends coming over for NYE and thought it might be fun to get a game or two that we can play as the evening goes on and we get a bit drunker!

Have just seen a thread about Cards Against Humanity, definitely don’t want that one! Did notice someone on there mentioned the First World Problems game, and that looks like it could be fun. On a previous year we’ve done the Name Game on the iPad. Any other suggestions please? We’re a group of 4 couples in our 30s/early 40s, if that even matters?!

heads up (app) is quite funny to play, i think they have an 'adult' expansion pack which costs a bit extra?

TranquilityofSolitude · 05/11/2019 18:00

We have a game where you have to play a tune on a kazoo and your partner has to guess it which can be very funny. It's called "Play that Tune" and I think there's a Christmas version too.

We also love Linkee which is more serious but still very enjoyable.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I love Heads Up, so that will go on the list! Also like the look of Play That Tune!

If there's couples or close friends Mr & Mrs is great fun.

The logo game really easy and fun

RavenLG · 08/11/2019 17:37

Articulate!!

JudgeRindersMinder · 08/11/2019 17:40

Pie Face!
It’s pity you’re not keen for Cards Against Humanity, but a sensible decision if any of your guests could be offended-you have to know your audience VERY well

SweepTheHalls · 08/11/2019 17:43

Exploding kittens

Blubluboo · 08/11/2019 17:54

I love cards against humanity! I played it with my siblings / sibling in laws and we had a ball. There were some stuff we genuinely hadn't heard of though so we did allow phones to look up words. It is surprising what you learn 🤣 true about audience though but I've not met many people who don't like it!

SouthernComforts · 08/11/2019 17:58

Another vote for Articulate!

flowerstar19 · 08/11/2019 19:04

Beanboozled, the Jelly Belly bean roulette game?

Wizzbangpop · 08/11/2019 19:21

I'm invited to a nye party where it's a diy murder mystery night

BarbedBloom · 08/11/2019 19:22

Love cards against humanity. Cranium was a load of fun when we played it a few years back

HeyMicky · 08/11/2019 20:10

Lyric is good for music lovers, and there's some opportunities to make stuff up and see if you can get away with it.

Dictionary is another one that's good for bluffers, only needs pen, paper and dictionary.

Consequences is another pen and paper game.

Mr Lister is good for teams - lots of odd categories

Scategories also works well in pairs or teams

So sorry I forgot to come back to my thread!! Thank you for all the suggestions. Articulate is a good one, we actually played that last NYE! Re Cards Against Humanity, I would actually love to give that a go, but I think a couple of the group really wouldn’t go for it unfortunately! I will take a look at all the other suggestions, thanks again! I found one called “What do you meme” which I thought looks fun.

OP posts:
Blubluboo · 13/11/2019 15:34

OP, what do you meme is hilarious but I'm afraid it is also a spin off of cards against humanity. We played it last Christmas and had to be really careful when kids walked in the room!

AfterSomeAdvice1234 · 13/11/2019 15:34

The Resistance/Avalon is great for drunk jolly groups!

Also Coup is our fave fave fave party game.

Blubluboo · 13/11/2019 15:37

Although there is nothing stopping you pulling the rude cards out. It is such a good game :)

Themountainsarecalling · 13/11/2019 17:40

Look up Telestrations

It's a bit long winded to describe, but it's a drawing and guessing game that gets passed around to play.

It's especially funny if you're a rubbish artist like me and other people have to try and guess what you've drawn and then write it down for someone else to then draw.

Dowser · 13/11/2019 18:24

Following in case there’s anything for families

sleepismysuperpower1 · 13/11/2019 18:29

@Dowser Pictureka and Bingo are both fun for a variety of ages. you could also get cards for charades like these

simonisnotme · 13/11/2019 18:45

as long as your broad minded another vote for Cards against humanity so bloody funny especially after a drink or 3

rosegoldivy · 13/11/2019 18:53

The 5 second rule game is a good family favourite in our house!

kshaw · 13/11/2019 18:57

We played scrawl the other week, like a mixture of pictionary and Chinese whispers ...really good fun
