My DH and I are doing a tour of the country next year and would like some ideas of things to do, places to go and things to see. It's just the 2 of us, we're active, enjoy good food & wine and learning new things.

What's your must see/do suggestion?

Cornwall for the gorgeous views and Cornish pasties
Norfolk for the history and great hog roasts

Lake District

I find Scotland stunning. The Isle of Skye and Outer Hebrides would be on my list.

Also the Isles of Scilly for their unusual microclimate.

Also worth spending a few days in London see what whacky/cool/unusual stuff is on.

The road up from Fort William to Skye is one of the most lovely drives I've done, love it up there.

FatherBuzzCagney · 05/11/2019 18:03

How long are you planning to be here? I assume you're planning to go to London anyway, so if you're here for three weeks or so then I'd say Oxford and/or Cambridge, Bath, Edinburgh are the obvious cities to visit, then the South West (Cornwall, Devon, or Dorset) and/or the Lake District and the Highlands. Isles of Scilly are wonderful but if you're only here for a short time then I would save them for another visit, not least because if the weather is dodgy then you can get stuck there!

My two must see places would be York and Bath. I know.... not exactly close by to each other!

We actually live in the uk, just lots of places we haven't been. Should have said that we live in the North East in case anyone suggests any of the amazing places round here!
