I feel like the worst dog owner :(

My beautiful 13 year old Labrador has got digestive issues which vets can't sort (been numerous times) so I've decided she's got
To start sleeping downstairs instead of upstairs next to my bed (like she has done for the past 3 years since have had her).
Downstairs is wooden floor and upstairs is all cream carpet. I feel so guilty!
Also I had a baby this year and she's changed since then as she doesn't have my full attention anymore.

Also this year she's been banned from the sofa because of her bottom issues! I feel so bad for her.

So fed up with feeling guilty :(

You sound sensible to me OP. Needs must.

Sorry that your lab is unwell, that must be difficult. 13 is quite old for a lab, isn’t it? Bless.

My old boy decided himself that he would no longer ask to be on my knee, he then became incontinent, both ways. He was banned from coming upstairs, at least downstairs we could clean the tiles/laminate.

Don’t feel guilty, OP, how on earth would you clean the carpet? He’s probably not keen to use stairs anyway. You have to be practical.

It depends how you feel about your dog I suppose. My dog is my baby. I’d put down blankets and offcuts of carpet to lie on, I wouldn’t ban him when he’s used to being next to you. Poor chap is unwell and now he’s been banished too. He’s unlikely to live much longer so I wouldn’t spoil his final year or so.

Sorry, should have said. Other, similar products are available if that one doesn't exactly fit your needs.

I bought large ( kylie ) incontinence pads for my old boy from eBay , the type that people have across their beds , absorbent soft top , they wash easily and were great for preventing accidents spreading over the floor or over him , I had about 6 that I had in rotational usage
