I need to get rid of PMS bloat urgently: tight dress tomorrow night!

I have a formal do tomorrow evening. My cycle is usually 28 days so I bought the dress knowing my period would be over and my awful PMS bloat would have abated. Of course the fecker is late (due last Wednesday but no sign of it yet) and I have three beach balls stuck on my front. I think I'll have to buy a new bra as I am spilling out of my usual ones but can I do anything to reduce my stomach? Tbh I feel like every inch of my body is bloated so the dress may look awful anyway.

Any top tips on how to deflate by tomorrow?
Or should I give up and get a new dress Sad?

A good dose of Epsom salts ( mag sulph) it might open your bowels too
No carbs
Eat lightly
Smoothies with lots of veg rather than fruit
Lie down tonight with feet higher than heart

Bicarb of soda, a heaped teaspoon in a glass of water. Tastes disgusting. Works.

Loads of water, peppermint tea, no carbs.

Go for a run!

Fennel tea

Peppermint tea. A long run. Eat absolutely nothing until the day after tomorrow. But the latter is, honestly, the only really effective remedy for bloating I have ever discovered.

Buy a new dress! Grin

Spanx

I have drank the bicarb in water
Bought the dress in the next size up but feel so expanded I'm not sure it'll even be comfortable. Wrapping myself in the duvet cover is sounding appealing at this stage Hmm

I've been eating very little since last week, I am so annoyed at my period/body/mother nature!

How does bicarb in water work?

Ladybirdman · 05/11/2019 13:38

I don't know horse I'm not sure it did anything for me but there was lots of tummy gurgling!

Still like the Michelin man!

I once started a similar thread and someone suggested manual lymphatic drainage. I couldn't find anyone to do it or I would have given it a go, but just in case you are in London or another big city, I will suggest it!

Horsemad · 05/11/2019 13:44

Oh no, sorry to hear it didn't work, are you going to wear something else instead then?

HumphreyCobblers · 05/11/2019 13:44

The only way I have found to avoid this is to low carb strictly in the two weeks before my period, and the payoff is that I get absolutely foul tempered.

Bicarbonate of soda... Who knew!!
