Sorry, TMI warning, re periods; Would it really be so bad to stop taking my contraceptive pill mid packet?

Hello!

Hoping someone might be able to advise.

I stopped taking the mini pill, due to side effects, ages ago. We have been using the barrier method ever since. All fine, except that I have had heavy and irregular periods, lasting a long time and coming close together.

So, I just recently, (a little over a week ago), started taking the mini pill again, after seeing GP and having blood tests etc.

I took the first pill on the first day of my period, as per instructions. This was last Saturday, (a little over a week ago, not yesterday). Since then, I've had my period, getting heavier again today.

Also, my rosacea, which is the bane of my fecking life when it flares up, which I had managed to get under control, has started flaring up. I want to stop taking the pill right now, (no DTD since I started taking it due to period anyway, so absolutely no danger of pregnancy). But the packet says to wait to finish the pack. That's three more weeks, when I've only been taking it for a week! Can I really not just stop taking them? I don't want to ask the GP as I've already had two appointments with them.

They weren't telling me to take the pill in the first place btw, but said it was up to me and worth a try, but not essential iyswim.

I had some leftover pills, still in the packets and in date, so I asked if I could use those and the GP said fine, so they didn't even actually prescribe them.

Not sure if this is the place for advice, but thought I'd ask on the off chance.

Many TIA Flowers.

Stop any time you like. If you were not taking them for contraception anyway, and since you haven't DTD at all, it doesn't matter when you stop .

The instructions about taking the whole packet, really only refer to women who are taking the pill for contraception. If not, it doesn't matter at all if you stop. You might have some odd bleeding etc, but since you've had a long period anyway you probably won't notice ! You'll be fine.
