I mean really really Christmassy, Christmas trees/decorations and generally can't escape the Christmasness.
Ideas anyone? 🎄

Enontekio in Lapland. Extremely uncommercialised and stunning.

SheSnapsThenSheFarts · 02/11/2019 20:07

Essen in Germany. I have been to many Christmas markets in Germany but I keep going back to Essen. It's fabulous

@Lj8893 me too. I am definitely collating all these places for a wonderful list.
Trying to decide which place looks most appealing right now.

Freiburg in the Black Forest

Swishswish26 · 02/11/2019 20:22

The Rockefeller Centre in New York, horse and carriage through Central Park and 5th Avenue.
I am ex cabin crew and I have never been anywhere more magical.

Ginfordinner · 02/11/2019 20:24

My parents' house when I was a child. Nothing has ever replicated the specialness of Christmas since then.

Bickles · 02/11/2019 20:25

Luosto in Finnish Lapland.

AdaColeman · 02/11/2019 20:30

Vienna, with all the major buildings swathed in scarlet ribbon, and wreaths and swags of fresh greenery everywhere, absolutely beautiful. The lovely glittering cathedral.
The christmasy cocktails were fab too!

mrswarthog · 02/11/2019 20:32

Grassington is lovely, the market, the shops, the villagers dressing up in Victoriana, Santa & his reindeer at the pub, the brass band & Christmas Carols at dusk. It's a fab start to Christmas.

Shockers · 02/11/2019 20:41

I love Funchal at Christmas. It has the most beautiful lights, music, a huge nativity scene, choirs of children... and it’s warm!

RaymondStopThat · 02/11/2019 20:45

Searching for Father Christmas in a snowy forest in Lapland. I don't think I'll ever top that.

shinychandelier · 02/11/2019 20:45

@Ginfordinner aww I love that and am most envious. My request for the list is actually because I came from a broken home. Alcoholic father and crap mum so I love love Christmas now I can finally celebrate it without fear of the Christmas tree being ripped down in some alcohol fuelled rage, don't speak to them anymore and dh has no family so just us and dc.

Lots of time to make up for it though and make up for it I shall. And also managed to somehow land myself a good job to pay for my own family's escapades. 🎄

Thank you @shinychandelier
Christmas has never been the same since my parents died, especially now that DD is at university. TBH I don't really care for Christmas and new year now as our family are so depleted.

I hope you manage to inject the same magic into Christmas for your family that my mum did.

Love the sound of Funchal at Christmas. We had a lovely holiday in Madeira in May.
