Where can I buy a very posh pencil?

Because of an “in joke” between ds and me, I want to buy him a particularly splendid pencil for his stocking. Any ideas? He’s 18, by the way, so he’s grown out of Disney! Money, (within reason considering it’s a pencil), no object.

Harrods?

Herocomplex · 02/11/2019 09:41

Smythson sell a gilded one. So posh.

Blackwing

Very posh pencils.

Kaweco do nice pencils I think. Paperchase in Tottenham Court Road stock them, possibly their online shop too.

Mitsubishi Hi Uni HB? This is often the posh pencil of choice for engineers - dh guards it with his life. It’s usually about 30-40 pounds

PullingMySocksUp · 02/11/2019 09:45

My posh pens were amazon so I’d go that route for a posh pencil too.

JoJoSM2 · 02/11/2019 09:51

I’ve got one of those gilded ones from Smythsons. You could obviously go with a Mont Blanc etc but that would go into hundreds for a pencil.

magimedi · 02/11/2019 10:18

I've got one of THESE - a present from DC. Love it to bits.

I think my definition of “money no object” might be a bit different to some other people’s!

Love the Smythson’a silver one,but can’t buy it for political reasons. But lots of other lovely choices. Thank you.

What were his childhood interests eg did he like dinosaurs, get him a dinosaur pencil (£1 asda!)

JoJoSM2 · 02/11/2019 11:26

What are the political reasons for not buying Smythson’s?

violetgrey · 02/11/2019 11:27

SamCam I imagine?

JoJoSM2 · 02/11/2019 11:30

Wasn’t SamCam there years and years ago? She didn’t work while at Downing St and now has her own clothing label.

SilverySurfer · 02/11/2019 11:50

Cross pens and pencils are nice and particularly like the gold ones www.amazon.co.uk/Cross-Classic-Signature-Karat-Pencil/dp/B0046NLHJK/ref=sr_1_95?keywords=cross+pencil&hvdev=c&hvadid=80539258901977&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1572695234&sr=8-95 although they also do silver which is cheaper.

Sgtmajormummy · 02/11/2019 14:31

Faber Castell are laughing all the way to the bank with what are essentially ridiculously expensive toppers for their wooden pencils.

You can find the plastic version for about £8 (say what?) and go up to this piece of cheeky fuckery. www.unitedpenshop.co.uk/graf-von-faber-castell/graf-von-faber-castell-perfect-pencil
