Oooh my brain isn't functioning as haven't managed to sleep yet so I can't think very well!

Chicken : Chicken in filo pastry in a mushroom and white wine sauce. However, I could eat sat he white sauce from the M&S tinned chunky chicken all day Blush

Lamb: slow roast with loads of garlic in it so it's really sticky and tender, pref with Greek yoghurt and white wine vinegar mixed together with finely chopped shallots mixed in, helps cut through the grease!

Beef: Brisket slow cooked with proper gravy

Pasta: chorizo, chillies and boursin in passatta.... V unhealthy but delicious!

Rice: mushroom and pancetta risotto

Vegetarian: goats cheese lasagne

Random dish: filthy treat either scallop butty from fish and chip shop or chicken katsu curry from.fuji hiro

Oh my goodness! A scallop butty? What delight is this???

years ago in Australia i sampled battered scallops from the chippy - a HUGE scallop (with the rose which is my favourite) battered in the lightest tempura batter. From literally a rural Australian chippy. I adored it and have never forgotten (neither have i forgotten the pure joy that is the steamed dim sim from the same chippy).

Battered scallop butty sounds like heaven.

I think I shall try a chicken filo pastry this weekend. It sounds like something even fussy DS1 will like. :)

Oh Japanese, I think the Yorkshire version of a scallop butty will be a huge let down.....

It is a big slice of potato, battered, deep fried, slung in a tea cake / bread cake with lashings of salt and vinegar. Zero nutritional value, disgraceful but very very nice Grin

JoyceDivision · 02/11/2019 05:39

I love chicken in filo pastry.... Hope your ds likes it! We usually have sugar snap with it.

With s Waitrose jam sponge pudding for afterwards now it is getting cold! Grin

JoyceDivision · 02/11/2019 05:42

JapaneseBirdPainting · 02/11/2019 05:43

If I couldn't sleep before, now I'm really struggling because I can't stop thinking about very nice food!

JapaneseBirdPainting · 02/11/2019 05:48

I know. I am about to go an investigate if I have any leftovers from dinner (chicken noodle soup)

When DH cooks steak he deglazes pan with red wine, reduces sauce then chucks a huge blob of creme fraiche in so it's a lovely thick intense sauce.

I really need to find joy in salads ....

Dollywilde · 02/11/2019 05:49

@JapaneseBirdPainting you should! It’s a bit of a cheat one but I end up sort of tweaking this recipe www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1129654/shallot-tarte-tatin-with-goats-cheese

I have a slumbering cat on top of me and now wondering how grumpy he’ll be if I get up to make a very early breakfast Grin

But now I'm fantasising about that shallot tarte tatin with goats cheese for breakfast.

JapaneseBirdPainting · 02/11/2019 09:54

All these dishes sound amazing. Pear icecream sounds incredible!

I went back to bed and have just woken up with a splitting headache. Insomnia is a bugger!

I think Paella is on the menu for this week!
