Does anyone know if these are still available?

Being the daughter of a true anglophile, I have spent quite a few holidays in the UK during my childhood. I recently started to remember that on a few occasions, my mum would buy me during those travels very small round tins with old fashioned drawings on them (for example a portrait of what seemed to be a Victorian era lady). Inside there were old fashioned purple breath mints with violet taste (I think there were other flavors available as well). I am not sure but I think I remember they were sold in gift shops at National Trust properties. Unfortunately I haven’t got any of these tins left but I would love to buy them again.
I tried googling them but couldn’t find them.
Does anybody have an idea if these childhood treasures of mine are still in production and if I can find them in a preferably online shop?

We’re they parma violets?

Honeybee85 · 30/10/2019 15:14

I had to google them as I had never heard before of parma violets Blush. But I don’t think it were those candies, they were very very tiny.
I think the size of a tictac but then in a round shape, if it makes any sense Hmm

Yes that’s what parma violets are, they’re very small flat round discs slightly indented inwards on the flat sides.

Cachous?
Might have spelled it wrong

Dowser · 30/10/2019 15:18

Cachou - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Cachou
Cachou may refer to: Throat lozenge, a breath freshener. Dragée, small candies that can be used for decoration. Catechu, a medicinal aromatic drug; the same as gambier, also called Terra Japonica

I even found the tin with the portrait of the lady!
They are definitely those I had as a child.

Does anyone know if these are still available?

They definitely sound like Parma Violets, which originally only came in small. You can buy them all over the place (as well as the Giant ones). Diameter would be about the same as TicTac length, I think. They aren't mints, though - do you mean they tasted of mint or just that they were regarded as breath fresheners?

Google Images has thrown up Violet Mint Squares by a company called C Howards in the US - I don't know how similar these would be.

Leone Pastilles of Italy make various different flavours including violet, some in a tin, but they're considerably bigger than TicTacs

Also considerably bigger but sound lovely are Ross's Violet Creams

www.thecandystoreonline.co.uk/product/violet-creams/

(those two places also sell Parma Violets)

And then there are sweets actually in a violet shape

These have an aniseed pip in the middle
