Smiggle backpacks reviews wanted please

Are they worth the hype? I work in a school and one of the students in my class has a Smiggle bag. It looks sturdy and supportive. DS2 has a cheap backpack from Shoezone currently that pulls down when it's full of his lunchbox etc so it looks like it's really dragging his shoulders iyswim? Bought as a quick replacement when the zip on his old one broke during the school day.
DS1 has a school branded one that is huge, but it seems much more supportive. DS2 doesn't want a school one which is fine, but I'd really like to get rid of his current one. Are the Smiggle ones worth it please?
DS2 is 6 by the way. I encourage them to carry their own rucksacks on the school run (of course I share some of the weight out if they have a lot, eg PE Kits at the end of each half term which I will carry). Generally it will house reading book/record, home learning book, lunchbox, water bottle and whatever light paraphernalia he has decided to carry that week.

Hi. Their backpacks are fine, and seem pretty sturdy. Better than the 'pop out' pencil cases anyway!

DD has one, it is really good, strong, sturdy and fits loads in.

Bacawill · 29/10/2019 15:39

My DS had the bigger Ultra Zone one last September for Year 4 and it's still going strong now. He can fit his book bag, water bottle, pencil case and PE kit in easily which is great as it's less bags to carry. DD has a smaller Deja Vu style one and carries her PE kit separately.

Would buy them again if they want them although they may be a bit too old next year.

DD has had one for a year and it's surprisingly well made. I'd buy another one.

Glittertwins · 29/10/2019 16:10

We had them from year 4 right up until the end of primary school. One looks a bit battered but it's a lighter colour. They've lasted well...unlike the new bag DS got for secondary school that didn't even last 3 weeks!!

EmpressJewel · 29/10/2019 16:15

DD has one. It's sturdy and has lots of pockets.

I wouldn't pay full price for one though. I bought DDs in the sale for £25 (from £40) and one for DN for £20. I'm sure there will be a sale around Xmas!!!

highheelsandwitcheshats · 29/10/2019 16:30

This is why I'm looking now. They currently have 25% off on their website. The one I'm looking at is down to £18, which I'm happy to pay. Less happy to pay £30 for one.

Ds has one. 12 quid in a sale in the summer. It's great. Lots of pockets, holders for water bottles and has a chest strap which makes it supportive

Looking at the website, it's the Good Vibes style my student has. So currently £25 on Smiggle.

My dd has had one for the last 3 and a half years, it is good as new! She takes it to school every day and it holds a lot. Nice padded straps and comfy.

Well worth it! (I like some of the faddy other bits they sell)

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 29/10/2019 17:10

My DD’s Smiggle backpack last a year, barely. Her Cath Kidston one is still going strong and it’s over 2 years old.
I bought my younger daughter a Landsend one when they were reduced, it’s very thin and I don’t think it will stand the test of time either.

ExcitedForFuture · 29/10/2019 23:10

DD has had her Smiggle bag for a couple of years. Still looks almost new. Very sturdy and well made.

DS has a Hype bag and that is also very good and is lasting well too.

GwenCooper81 · 29/10/2019 23:14

Yougest Dd had one in y4. She's in year 7 now and it's still going strong (not used by her for school anymore). I use it when we go walking, I love the padded straps and the bottle spaces at the sides. Cost a fortune but well l well worth it. Its been washed and sewn as well and still looks good.
Just a shame Y7 is all about sports named bags.

MuseumOfYou · 29/10/2019 23:48

We had one for 2 years, I was impressed at the quality actually.

MuseumOfYou · 29/10/2019 23:49

She's now got a Hype, and I was similarly outraged at the price but also seems to be wearing well.
