Someone has been dialling international numbers from landline, is it a scam?

I’ve got £30 worth of calls made on my landline last month and we rarely use the landline.....I ring my brother once a month and apart from that we use mobiles.

Dh has come home and denied ringing anybody. He’s gone through the call log on the handset and someone is dialling a foreign number once a week at 8am.

If we can see it on the handset does that mean someone is physically dialling it from our house? We’ve normally all left for work by then during the week or still in bed at weekends! I do have a teen dd who I haven’t asked yet but can’t imagine it’s her, she doesn’t know anyone abroad and is also out the house by then.

Is it the same number each time? Have you tried googling it? Do you have anything attached to your phone line like an alarm system?

Some other possibilities here:

Have just looked at the phone myself and the international number is an incoming one. We don’t have a log of outgoing numbers.

Virgin bill doesn’t seem to break it down into individual calls so the mystery of the big bill remains.

I’ve just negotiated a deal with free calls all day 7 days a week so hopefully no more phone call charges. Thanks though.
