Anyone else got a stinker of a cold/virus?

Kids have been off school this week and one started with a horrible cough which floored him, he lost his voice and temp very high. Turns out it must have been the croup virus because dd age 2 started halfway through the week and actually turned into croup and she had to have the steroids from gp. She made a really good fast recovery after that but then yesterday I started with a sore throat. Not too bad I thought but then today I've gradually got worse and my temp is hovering around 39 and I just feel horrible! I have a runny nose and feel a bit mucoussy and a bit muffled but I am getting a bit worried now. In March I was struck with a really bad chest infection out of the blue which floored me even after 3 different antibiotics, I was so ill.
Do I just need to toughen up?

Hi OP, it’s not just you suffering, we’ve been hit with an absolute stinker of a cold here too. Started with me then went onto DS2, 8 days and counting. DS2 seems a lot better this morning so hopefully he’s over the worst. We’ve both been very very snotty with bad coughs. So no sleep all week as DS2 has been up every couple of hours.

DS1 is a bit snotty and DH seems weirdly immune but that might be all the first defence spray he’s been taking.

It’s horrible and so miserable! Roll on Spring! I’ll be getting the flu jab for myself once I’m better, I have found that having this does cut down a lot on the number of colds I get over the winter and also if I do get a cold they don’t last nearly as long.

Hope you’re all better soon

@Leftie624 oh no that sounds rough for you all! I had my flu jab a month ago funnily enough so I didn't expect to be hit by more than a sniffle! One side of my throat is really sore but paracetamol is helping so can't be too bad. It's hard with little ones isn't it, I think we get run down from nursing them while they're poorly!

Me too, woke Saturday with the mother of all sore throats, now have a temp, headache and can't stop sneezing.

DD had a horrible virus the week before half term so not sure if it's that or something else.

I'm in week 3 of a weird cold that I've shared with DP. It seemed to clear up after a few days then turned into a rollercoaster of different symptoms every day. I've had sore throat, runny nose, chesty cough, dry cough, and have an ear infection which means I have constantly blocked and painful ears.

It's no fun, is it? Hope you all start to feel better soon Thanks
