Matched Betters Warning- My Betfair account has been hacked and cleared out

Posting here for maximum traffic.

I got an email saying my account was suspended due to a third party attempting access. I contact Betfair who tell me that attempts were made from multiple locations and I don't have a balance. I hadn't used it in a while as had put Matched Betting on hold and I can't quite remember how much was in it. Just a warning to anybody else to check their accounts.

They say there is no evidence they have been hacked - but they must have been!

Eek thank you for the warning!

Can you check your account history. Can't remember what it's called in Betfair but Smarkets call it Statement and you can see what's gone in/out etc. So you'll know how much you had taken.

Did they say if they'd reimburse you? Or are you out of pocket since they're denying a hack?

Did you have 2 step authentication turned on?

You can check on the desktop site where your account has been accessed from

Hope you get it reimbursed

I haven't had access yet to do anything and didn't have 2 step verification but will now. They said there was nothing in my account and are accepting the hacking has taken place.

Waiting to see what they come back with.

I'm agog as to how they got access.

I’ve heard of this before and am sorry it’s happened to you - in the instances I have read about, Betfair have refunded the money stolen.

I don’t have much there atm but really must set up 2fa - and for Smarkets if you can for them.

Hope you will get your money back.
