Hi - would it still be ok? I am a bit fussy about food that is out of date. It is smoked I believe (not at home at mo).

Your thoughts??

Yes I'd eat it unless it was very obviously off when I took it out.

DramaAlpaca · 26/10/2019 16:10

I'm sure it will be fine to eat, especially as it's smoked.

stucknoue · 26/10/2019 17:05

Give it a sniff and make sure it's not gone mushy ... I eat really out of date food though

Deathraystare · 26/10/2019 17:15

Thanks! I have not been at home for a few days so have had no opportunity to eat it.

Absolutely, unless it smells bad.

Howmanysleepsnow · 26/10/2019 17:42

If it’s smoked i’d eat it.
Any thoughts on Black Forest gateau dated yesterday?

PoppiesarelethaltoSpellmans · 26/10/2019 18:12

Is it a use by or a best before?

Deathraystare · 27/10/2019 12:16

I can't remember but to be honest i have not fancied eating it anyway with this cold so I may well chuck it. Wasteful I know....

Yes smoked fish kept in a fridge will be fine. The whole point of smoking is to preserve it even without refrigeration. If you’re concerned then maybe cook it too - I like it hot on toast with scrambled eggs.

Deathraystare · 27/10/2019 12:46

That's an idea - with scrambled egg! However, I think I may have already chucked it. Not thinking straight at the mo - cold head!
