I think I need to avoid mumsnet until spring. Anyone with me!? Emetophobia related

I quite enjoy the odd scroll through mumsnet....but I have emetophobia and I’m not sure I can cope with the sheer amount of D&V threads :(

The stories of noro send my anxiety through the roof. You often can’t tell from the thread title either. In the real world I can largely ignore it, but once I’ve been on mumsnet for an hour or so it feels like some kind of plague.

Think I’m going to have to just avoid. Is it just me??

Not just you.

I find this time of the year so difficult even to the point I struggle to take the kids to school though I do.

There are a lot of d&v threads but I suppose they cant be censored because of our difficulties

I have OCD, anxiety and emetophobia (diagnosed by psychiatrist). It is tough, my Dh is my rock.

I’m the same. I can mask it quite well in day to day life but there just seems to be such a lot of talk about it here compared with the real world, sends my anxiety skyrocketing Sad

This is possibly the only D&V thread I have ever opened. Having said that, part of recovery from phobia or OCD is facing the trigger head on.
I'm not underestimating how bloody awful it is to do that believe me....
However, as part of your recovery I don't think you should avoid.

I am the opposite. I always read the sick threads

(Diagnosed, lifelong emetophobe, CBT didn't work so I'm on the waiting list for a new therapy)

Agree with @crunchymum :) some emetophobes avoid. Some people obsessively read EVERYTHING about every sickness bug, hospital and school closure, cruise ship outbreak. I always feel like if I read more and track it I will feel safer and learn something that will make me feel better. I don’t and I don’t! It’s like a monster inside my head that needs constant feeding.

And yes, I’ll be permanently tense until roughly March. Hate this time of year. Sending sympathy to you all and best wishes for a healthy winter
