We are away for Halloween so in a moment of weakness I told DS2 he could have 3 friends over tomorrow evening for some spooky fun. But what the fuck is that!?

I've got bobbing for apples which they've never done so they might think it's fun, that game where you hang donuts from string and eat them without your hands, am going to hollow out a pumpkin, fill it with haribo packets and forfeits and do Pass the Pumpkin, but howelse can I occupy them for 2 hours without resulting to the PlayStation?!

Mars bar game wearing big dressing up gloves/mask/ hat and scarf?
Puffed rice game? Bowl of puffed rice ( the coloured kind if you can get it) every one has a straw. They have to suck up a bit of rice and put it in thier own bowl. No hands if they drop it on table they still have to use straw. Time them. Winner has most rice.

Juice or water bottle skittles. Ball is a turnip. (Swede if you are english😀)

Shoe box or bigger box sealed full of cold spaghetti, coloured cold rice, bits of carrot, jelly etc anything that feels gross. Hand hole in one end, hide sweets in it. They have to find one each in set time.

Mummifying an adult with toilet rolls (wrap toilet rolls around adult or similar item such as a chair)

Some kind of spooky pinata

Get some cheap Barbie doll type from £1 shop pull the limbs and head off. Put them in a bucket of strong soapy bubbles. You need to find and assemble a doll under the bubbles. Donoughts on a string eat without touching. We did the things in boxes to guess ..the last one they reached in was my hand 😈. We did it one at a time so no cheating. Jelly on a plate . Not allowed to use hands. Loo roll mummy is good but if you use really cheap looroll it just snaps

And short film maybe? The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror is good

And if you're in the Peak District and would like a cauldron of water beads and a dozen intricately carved pumpkins left over from the school's spooky walk PM me!

TwigTheWonderKid · 27/10/2019 20:10

Thank you all! Sadly, we're nowhere near the Peak District.

We did donuts on strings (no hands and blindfolded), treasure hunt for chocolate eyeballs, manhunt in the dark park with torches, a scary story (about a severed hand) followed by the things in a box to guess game which I told them were all fake except one thing which was real and told hem to remember I worked in a hospital and had access to "stuff" ... The surgical glove stuffed with porridge really had them wondering Grin

Glad you had fun! Another popular "spooky" game is Admiral Nelson - one at a time they're blindfolded and led into a room, and have to feel Admiral Nelson's hat, hair, clothes, and finally his eye: they poke their finger into the centre of a cucumber. Halloween Grin

TwigTheWonderKid · 27/10/2019 21:36

Oooh that sounds great! Will file that away for next year.

Admiral Nelson ooh the 'eye' we did was a small jar of Vaseline Grin

I used to do a Tutunkhamon's Brain -
soft cooked pasta tubes/spaghetti , mix with melted jelly (minimal water)
Put clingfilm in a sieve , a rolled up foil 'sausage' in the centre (to make the lobe)

We decorated a plastic box with hierogliphics and kept it in the fridge .
Pop the brain in, peel off the foil+ film.

(DH worked in a hospial site so he told them it was "borrowed" / stolen from the vaults and had to go back, but no-one could tell anyone we had it Wink
