Skinny jeans for the short and fat

I would like some comfortable skinny jeans that also look nice. I’m not expecting to look like a supermodel in them, but just not like a sack of shit tied up with a belt in the middle.
I’m apple shaped which adds another issue as if they fit everywhere else (skinny legs) I can’t do them up round the belly Blush
I’m beginning to think I’m searching for the holy grail and I’m starting to suffer from jeans shopping fatigue.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I was going to post in S&B but got scared when I read a thread slating leggings; one pp said that leggings are where fashion goes to die. Now, they’re probably right as they’re knowledgeable bods over there but I live in leggings Blush There’s probably no hope for me fashion wise but please hit me with your best skinnies!

You probably need jeggings if you’re after a skinny leg. Topshop and River Island are pretty good.

Teacakequeen · 23/10/2019 11:40

Primark do really nice skinny jeans which are high waisted so really comfortable.

ReginaGeorgeous · 23/10/2019 11:47

I'm short and fat too, and find the best fitting skinny jeans for me are from topshop. Few places seem to do different leg lengths, it's so annoying.

I really rate Marks & Spencer for skinny jeans or leggings. They do short length ones.

UrkStarkadder · 23/10/2019 12:39

Hadn’t thought of Topshop, felt too old and knackered to shop there but I’ll give it a go. I tried H&M but I swear their clothes are cut for pixies.

New Look do a high waist super skinny which work well on me - I am short and fat and swear by them!

PastTheGin · 23/10/2019 13:00

I bought a really nice pair in TK Max at the weekend. They’re called something with “curve” in it and have some magic tummy tucking properties. Very flattering!

ohdearmymistake · 23/10/2019 13:07

Watching with interest as I have tried and rejected so many for the same reason; either fit the legs but not the waist or vice versa.
I took some M and S jeggings back recently for this reason.

AuntieDolly · 23/10/2019 13:13

I've got some jeggings from Matalan which are my first 'skinnies' - I love them!

CruCru · 23/10/2019 13:40

What about Mango?

aintnothinbutagstring · 23/10/2019 14:02

'frankie' skinnies from Dorothy Perkins (I get mine from Debenhams), stretchy and comfortable and in different leg lengths, they're not jeggings which I find dig into my waist (and after two kids and shit stomach muscles is not nice). Quite cheap too and in range of colours.

aintnothinbutagstring · 23/10/2019 14:06

Oh and Next do a 'relaxed skinny', which are super comfy, a little bit cropped which is the look now.

Telesto · 23/10/2019 14:13

H&M’s skinny jeans online are sized by waist and leg length and they seem to have lots of combinations. They have both skinny jeans and jeggings but I find them really similar (and really like both).

UrkStarkadder · 23/10/2019 14:25

These suggestions are great, thank you all. Jeggings seem like a good idea so I’ll try them but like @aintnothinbutagstring I have post partum crap stomach muscles and can’t stand any digging in. The search continues! Off to look at Mango, thanks CruCru.

Another vote for Matalan jeggings here. I like the fact they come in different leg lengths (for my short fat legs) and different colours.

Telesto · 23/10/2019 15:53

@UrkStarkadder Just saw your post about H&M. I thought that too but their sizing really has got better. I used to find it really inconsistent and generally cut small but have found things a good fit more recently. They have a calculator on their website where you enter your height and weight, bra size (if buying a top), and name a shop that is normally a good fit for you and what size you would buy there and then it tells you what size to take in the item you have selected.

Johnsonsfiat · 23/10/2019 15:55

I have about 15 pairs of Oasis Cherry.

Macaroni46 · 23/10/2019 15:57

I am of the same dimensions and swear by monsoon Nadine skinny jeans. They come in indigo or black

missbattenburg · 23/10/2019 15:59

monsoon Nadine skinny jeans

Yep. I must gone through several pairs by now. I live in dread for the day they no longer stock them.

UrkStarkadder · 23/10/2019 16:43

Right, I’ll try H&M again Telesto, and I’ll give monsoon Nadine skinnies a go. As an aside, you don’t get many baby Nadines these days do you?

I'm fat and slightly above average height if that helps Grin
I think Levi's shaping skinny jeans are great. A bit pricey but worth it. I refused to wear jeans for years until I tried these!

PrincessMonacoOfKent · 23/10/2019 20:44

A shorty & fatty here - I buy mine from Yours Clothing. They do different leg lengths, and the jeans have a good amount of stretch in them!
