What type of flooring for playroom/family room?

We're currently redecorating our playroom and can't decide on flooring. It's the only downstairs room with a TV so it will function as a family room too (lots of good storage to hide toys away).

I'm stuck between carpet and laminate. Would love vinyl but had it in our kitchen before and it marked/tore easily. Currently have laminate and I like how easy it is to mop but every single grain of dust and dirt show up on it so it looks gritty an hour after hoovering (messy kids).

Am I asking for trouble with carpet?

Laminate and low pile rugs. Or carpet tiles, that way you can replace one if it gets too grotty.

Robot vacuum with laminate eliminates the dust problem.

Hadn't thought of carpet tiles, will have a look thanks 👍

Waiting for black Friday for robot hoover sales Grin

Laminate or vinyl. We do a lot of painting, playdoh etc though.
