Objections at weddings

Inspired by poor @WeddingMuppets thread about marriage licenses and the reasons behind giving notice to marry, I was wondering if anyone has ever been at a wedding where someone actually stood up and objected to the marriage rather than forever holding their peace? And what would actually happen if someone did object?

Our vicar said he’d had to stop one when a guest realised the couple were half siblings.

We also got the lecture on friends thinking it’s funny.

The closest I've come is when my 5m old nephew blew a massive raspberry in that exact moment of silence. Fantastic timing! The vicar did a little chuckle and said "I'm fairly certain we can ignore that one" with a wink. It was lovely!

I did see a groom throw up through nerves once

Never witnessed it, but I do love that bit of Alice and Hugo's wedding in the Vicar of Dibley!

Never had one at work but the bigger concern is we have procedures now in place to prevent forced/sham marriage because it was churches being targeted

Not quite the same, but I was at an engagement where the couple's dog was on a lead and being held by a friend when the bloke popped the question.

Hushed silence at this romantic moment, and the dog starts growling furiously just as he drops onto one knee and proposes.

The dog probably had a point - it didn't last and they never got as far as the altar.
