Hi,

We have just got a Spotify account and Bluetooth speakers in the house.

My 7 year old has just moved away from Disney etc and has started listening to a few pop songs. Any recommendations of current songs your kids listen to?

Kids bop are good for this age group. Pop songs sung by kids and kid friendly versions. My 7 year old likes kids bop, Movie soundtracks, George Ezra and 6 year old dd likes Kylie and jo jo siwa as well.

I'm training mine up on retro classics... the Beatles, Queen, lots of rock/ pop from the 60s on. They like catchy beats and simple lyrics to pick up. Bonus points for the cheesy end of the 80s/ novelty records Grin

My 8yr old DS has been a big Twenty One Pilots fan since he was 7. He also likes Linkin Park.

My dd (7 in November) likes a bit of everything. Currently listening to Billy Eilish and Jess Glynn a lot. We've also had Eleanor Rigby and a song by Talking Heads on repeat this week.

ShitUsername · 19/10/2019 23:57

Mostly chart stuff, Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi etc also been playing a lot of Elton John recently thanks to the film Sing!

Ooh lots of great suggestions, thank you! We’re listening to Little Mix Black Magic at the moment!

We like the fun kids radio station.

KatherineJaneway · 20/10/2019 08:06

Make sure you add some classics in that you like too. I'd add Michael Jackson, George Michael, edited Prince, Motown and John Denver. Also get her into Haim, amazing band and the sisters are lovely and down to earth.

WingBingo · 20/10/2019 08:11

Queen , George Ezra and the Greatest Showman are favourites here.

I see to remember that Old Town Road was popular at the last school disco.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 20/10/2019 08:20

We usually have Radio 2 on or we'll select CDs (haven't joined the 21st Century yet) that are catchy: Stevie Wonder, Motown collections, Kylie, St Etienne, Katy Perry, etc. Up-tempo Country and Folk collections are usually popular with him too.

Our house is a music house OP ,,rarely do we watch the t.v so the cd is always on,My 7 yr old is subjected to anything mod by her dad ,northern soul and then the rat pack stuff by me mixed with opera if i am in the mood! Then her brother plays the stuff from the 80s to now.Her very favourite music is rave stuff she loves it! In the car on the way to school she has heart radio on and sings along happily for 10 mins!

6&8yos. Their favourite bands (thanks to their father) are Alestorm, Rammstein, Queen and Powerwolf. (We do sensor the songs to avoid the the explicit ones).
