How to ask for invoice to be paid quickly

I have 60p in my account. I'm a self employed carer. I sent out my invoices yesterday for the work I have done this past week but nobody has paid. I request that invoices be paid within 7 days so they are not yet overdue.
But I am at a point where I don't even have enough money for a pint of milk. I have nothing to eat tonight. I had big unexpected bills this week as my dog has been really poorly and requires numerous trips to the vets and hundreds in costs. Which I had to pay upfront as we were a new client to the practice.
So any suggestions how I can professionally ask at least one client to pay their invoice ASAP? I text most of them to arrange work so was thinking I'd text them. I just don't know how to word it and it not sound very unprofessional!

How well do you know your clients? I am sure if they value your services as a career they will be understanding.

Can you just be honest ‘I have had a very large, unexpected bill this week due to my dog’s ill health and would be very grateful if you could possibly settle the invoice as soon as convenient’. (send it to whichever of your clients is a dog lover Grin.

Longer term can you arrange an overdraft facility with your Bank?

It would sound unprofessional. You have given them a time limit which they should abide by. If you ask, now, for payment sooner because you are short of funds it will not look great. If you know them really well and are on friendly terms with them you could try.
I know this is not what you want to hear but your money woes are not their problem. Have you any friends and family you could borrow from? And for goodness sake, sort out some pet insurance.

Sorry you're in this situation. I'm also self-employed and money is a bit tight at the moment. I recently sent a message to a client saying, "I know you usually pay my invoices more or less on time but I would really appreciate it if you could pay my invoice by the due date this month." No further explanation necessary. The client duly paid my invoice on time and it hasn't affected our good working relationship.

Midlandsmum23 the OP is asking for payment earlier than the due date.

I’d text one or two of them and say that you had a huge vet bill which caused financial strain this week and that if they are able to pay their invoices as soon as possible, despite the payment deadline being done another few days, you would be really grateful.
If they have the money and the capability and are not shits, they’d pay right that second online.
